What the inspector shows
IP inspector parses one complete IPv4 or IPv6 address, reports the format recognised, and shows its canonical and expanded forms, exact integer, hexadecimal and binary values, and reverse-DNS name. IPv4 addresses also show their IPv4-mapped IPv6 form. Mapped IPv6 addresses show their embedded IPv4 value.
Special-purpose classification
The local classifier uses a dated snapshot of the active IANA IPv4 and IPv6 Special-Purpose Address Registries and chooses the narrowest matching prefix. A registry entry may say whether an address is globally reachable according to that registry. No match does not prove the address is routable or currently reachable. This page does not perform remote DNS, ASN, RPKI or geographic enrichment yet.
Privacy and limits
Parsing and classification run in your browser without sending the address to an API. Scoped IPv6 zone identifiers are kept in the display form, but the numeric and PTR forms describe the address itself. A short input can be shared in a URL fragment that is not sent to the server.
